Cosmetic surgery has never been more popular than it is right now. In fact, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), last year smashed the record for more cosmetic surgery procedures performed in a single year in the US. Still, despite its surging popularity, plastic surgery is not for everyone. In my time as a double board-certified plastic surgeon, I have spoken with many patients who were not able to undergo a cosmetic surgery procedure, whether it was due to medical reasons, scheduling conflicts, or just personal preference. Thankfully for these patients, there are now more nonsurgical cosmetic solutions available than ever before. To give readers a better idea of what they can achieve without surgery, allow me to highlight three of my most popular nonsurgical cosmetic procedures.

3 Nonsurgical Solutions to Common Cosmetic Problems

Although it may not be a substitute for liposuction, SculpSure® Nonsurgical Fat Reduction helps patients in a similar way. As we age, it gets harder and harder to shed unwanted fat that accumulates on our bodies. When diet and exercise are not enough, SculpSure® can be the perfect way to tighten up your figure by treating stubborn fat in areas all over the body including the abdomen, love handles, waist, arms, and more. SculpSure® treatments are fast (usually around 25 minutes), safe, and require no downtime for recovery.

Nonsurgical cosmetic procedures can be helpful for improving the appearance of a patient’s face. For instance, nonsurgical rhinoplasty (sometimes known as the liquid nose job) uses injectable dermal fillers to camouflage uneven areas on the nose. A liquid nose job is for patients who seek subtle tweaks to the appearance of their nose. Those who want to alter the size and shape of their nose will still need to undergo a surgical rhinoplasty.

Lastly, Kybella® fat reduction for the double chin is FDA-approved to help remove submental fat that appears below the chin. By using deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body, Kybella® can safely break down fat cells. Once these fat cells are destroyed, they do not return, meaning the results from Kybella® treatments can be extremely long-lasting.

Keep in mind, these procedures are not intended to take the place of cosmetic surgery. While the procedures mentioned above can provide outstanding, natural-looking results, some patients may require more extensive cosmetic alterations only achievable through surgery. However, by making my patients aware of all of the various surgical and nonsurgical options that I provide, my goal is to help them make an informed decision about the right cosmetic procedure for their specific needs.
