three-ladies-with-big-smilesThe desire for subtle, natural-looking plastic surgery results has become increasingly in-demand in recent years. This is always my intent when performing plastic surgery for the face. In my decades of working with patients, I know that the overwhelming majority of patients want to find that important balance between refreshing their face without completely altering or reinventing it. This is where expertise and experience come into play. Today, I thought it would be instructive to answer a few common questions about plastic surgery for the face and the subtle, but powerful impact that it can provide.

Question #1: Is it possible to have rhinoplasty without altering the balance of my face?

Absolutely. In fact, for many patients, rhinoplasty surgery (AKA a nose job) is done to enhance the harmony of the facial features, not disrupt it. Depending on the patient’s needs, I am careful to make small changes to the size and shape of the nose to ensure continued facial symmetry. Some patients also choose to undergo an additional procedure like chin surgery at the same time as their rhinoplasty to establish a new facial balance.

Question #2: What makes someone a good candidate for a lip lift?

Lip lift surgery, or lip augmentation, is a unique procedure that has become a lot more in-demand in recent years. This surgery is done to help patients who feel that they have too much space between their upper lip and the bottom of their nose. The surgery can help patients whose lips do not fully cover their upper teeth, those who wish to add volume to their upper lip (but prefer not to use filler injections), and those who experience down-turned lip corners.

Question #3: What are the advantages of a mini facelift surgery?

Like many other cosmetic procedures, a facelift can be performed in different ways. A mini facelift surgery offers patients a less extensive and invasive option. This type of facelift involves making smaller incisions to target specific areas on the middle, but mostly lower portion of the face including the cheeks, jawline, and neck. In addition to rejuvenating these specific areas, the procedure time and recovery time are shorter than with a traditional facelift.

Facial rejuvenation with plastic surgery can take many forms. Regardless of which procedure you’re interested in, the most important thing is finding an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon to perform it.
