If you’ve been debating whether or not to get your breasts enhanced, now’s the time to take your first step to achieving the look you really want. In order to ease any apprehensions you may have, Dr. David Whiteman has broken down the top common questions patients typically ask before/after undergoing a breast procedure.

Q: How do you determine what size breast implants are right for me?
A: During your consultation with Dr. Whiteman, you will discuss your personal plastic surgery goals, medical history, and different breast enlargement techniques and implant options that showcase the most natural looking results. To determine which implant is right for your breast augmentation surgery, whether it’s a silicone, saline, or gummy bear implants, Dr. Whiteman takes full body measurements including height, weight, rib cage size, and previous breast size. Additionally, you can physically try on different implant sizes to gauge which best size and type of breast implant will help best achieve the look you desire.

Q: How long does it take to recover from breast augmentation surgery?
A: Post-surgery, Dr. Whiteman will wrap your breasts in gauze and an elastic bandage or support bra in order to minimize swelling and support the breasts as they heal following breast augmentation surgery. Each patient’s recovery time differs and will be discussed during your consultation. Multiple factors such as the type of incision you receive, or the type of job you have, determine the length of time you will have to wait before returning to everyday activities. Most patients are typically able to return to work within a week and can engage in physical activity within four to six weeks with the recommendation of your surgeon.

Q: How long will my breast lift surgery results last?
A: Dr. Whiteman feels it is very important that patients regularly schedule and attend follow-up appointments in order to receive recommendations for minimizing any complications, and expedite proper instructions to aid in the healing process following breast lift surgery. Depending on the technique used, maintenance, or weight fluctuation following your procedure, breast lift results can last a while, or results can be reversed if the patient experiences a dramatic weight gain which can cause the skin to stretch.
