the ability breast enhancement gives patients to customize the details of their procedure in a way few other surgeries provide. In addition to choosing between the most appropriate shape, size, and material of their potential breast implants, some women choose to bypass implants altogether and enhance their breasts with fat transfer injections.
Some plastic surgeons refer to the fat that is removed during liposuction as “liquid gold” due to its ability to rejuvenate and add volume to areas all over the body. Fat transfer to the breast involves safely processing this fat and re-injecting it into the breasts. The result is a subtle, natural-looking breast enhancement for patients who prefer not to have breast implants. I have developed a signature technique for fat transfer that allows me to remove fat from the patient’s donor site, process it, and re-inject it into another area of the body in a just a matter of minutes. This process allows me to increase the amount of available fat while also speeding up the injection process.
Fat transfer to the breast should not be considered a replacement for traditional breast augmentation surgery. Injecting fat into the breasts cannot provide the substantial increase in breast volume that breast implants provide. It is best applied in situations where the patient only wants a modest increase in breast size or wishes to correct breast asymmetry. Additionally, fat transfer can be performed in conjunction with breast implants as an enhancement tool. This allows patients to optimize the shape of their breasts and achieve a more dramatic and natural increase in breast volume. In the following video, I discuss fat transfer for the breasts and how it can be used to help patients rejuvenate their breast contour:
