As a board-certified plastic surgeon, I always try to remain flexible with my patients. This means many things, but most commonly, it means being able to provide as many options as I can for my patients in order to find the most precise solution for their aesthetic needs. This is why offering trusted and effective non-surgical alternatives when possible is important as well. However, some concerns cannot be truly addressed without the assistance of cosmetic surgery. I wanted to explain why, despite what some people may say, there is no true non-surgical alternative to eyelid surgery.

There are many potential causes of aging around the eyes. And in some cases, certain non-surgical treatments can be helpful. Certain cosmetic injectables like facial fillers can be used under certain circumstances under the eye to help reduce the appearance of dark circles or “bags”. While helpful, this is hardly a substitute for eyelid surgery.

During eyelid surgery, I am able to provide long-term rejuvenation to the area around the eyes. This is done by surgically removing sagging skin and small deposits of fat that accrue in the upper and/or lower eyelids over time. Every eyelid surgery procedure that I perform is custom-tailored to the specific needs of each individual patient. In some cases, I may recommend combining eyelid surgery with a brow lift to enhance the positioning of the brow and provide even more comprehensive results.

In the video below, I take time to discuss the different options that I offer my eyelid surgery patients and how they can help patients achieve the younger-looking and more rested appearance they desire:
