In the world of plastic surgery, some things never change. Specifically, the goal of each patient to receive the best and longest-lasting aesthetic results possible. However, what is considered most desirable and how those results are ultimately delivered can fluctuate quite a bit depending on current trends within society and the plastic surgery industry, not to mention the surgeon’s techniques. Every year brings new trends in plastic surgery, and it’s my job as a board-certified plastic surgeon to be aware of these trends and discuss the pros and cons with my patients. So without further ado, here are a few current trends in plastic surgery that I expect to make a considerable impact in 2025.
Patients Maximizing Their Investment With Combination Procedures
While some may find this description a bit crass, plastic surgery is an investment. It’s an investment in yourself and an opportunity to look and feel your best. And combination procedures that include multiple cosmetic procedures as part of one surgery are becoming more common for patients who want to get the most bang for their buck so to speak. Undergoing a plastic surgery combination can help deliver more comprehensive aesthetic results, while cutting back on overall surgical costs and recovery time. Some common combination procedures include post-weight loss procedures, mommy makeover surgery or combining facelift surgery with eyelid surgery.
The Continued Rise of Male Body Contouring
Male plastic surgery continues to grow in popularity year over year. And while many of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures for men are meant to address signs of aging in the face, male body contouring is more in-demand than ever. Men are seeking out these procedures to help achieve a more toned, masculine body contour and shed unwanted fat from areas all over the body. I expect to see an increase in liposuction, male breast reduction procedures (gynecomastia surgery), and more in the year to come.
Curtailing The Effects of “Ozempic Face”
As popular weight loss medicines continue to become more commonplace, so too will less flattering effects. The term “Ozempic face” has sprouted up recently to describe the hollowed-out, low-volume appearance that can occur after considerable sudden weight loss. This loss of facial volume or sagging facial skin that occurs after weight loss can drastically impact a person’s appearance and make someone look old well before their time. Thankfully, there are outstanding options available to fight off these effects, including facial fat transfer injections and even facelift surgery.
