Preparation is something that cannot be taken for granted. Especially in the case of plastic surgery procedures like eyelid surgery. Preparation before plastic surgery takes many forms, from the earliest stages of researching specific procedures, to considering who will perform your surgery, and many small but significant choices before the surgery can take place. This is why I pride myself on not just delivering outstanding plastic surgery results for my patients, but also doing everything in my power to help them successfully prepare for their surgeries. Which is why I thought it would be helpful to present this simple pre-surgery checklist to help guide any patient currently considering undergoing eyelid surgery.
1.) Are You a Good Candidate for Eyelid Surgery?
Confirming that you are a good candidate to safely undergo eyelid surgery is an essential early step in the process. Additionally, you must also make sure that eyelid surgery will provide the most optimal path to the aesthetic results that you hope to achieve. Eyelid surgery is often used to help refresh the area around the eyes by resolving issues like wrinkles, bags, and small deposits of fat in and around the eyelids. But there are other cosmetic procedures including non-surgical injectables that may be able to provide the results that some patients desire based on their own specific needs. I take time to guide my patients through all their potential options during eyelid surgery consultation appointments and recommend the best procedure or procedures for their needs. Another thing I recommend to eyelid surgery patients is making sure that they have had a recent vision examination before undergoing their procedure.
2.) Which Eyelid Surgery Technique Is Right For You?
Depending on the specific case, eyelid surgery can be performed on either the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. It’s simply a matter of where your issues occur and what we agree is the most appropriate and helpful procedure plan. Additionally, eyelid surgery is remarkably popular with both women and men. During eyelid surgery procedures for male patients, I make a point to ensure that the more masculine features of the eyes will not be lost.
3.) Can I Combine My Eyelid Surgery With Other Cosmetic Procedures?
Like many other plastic surgery procedures for the face, eyelid surgery can often be combined with other plastic surgery procedures as a way to provide more comprehensive results and maintain facial balance. Eyelid surgery is often paired with other procedures for the face including facelift surgery, eyebrow lifts, and rhinoplasty surgery. I also perform what I call the Menopause Makeover surgery, which may combine eyelid surgery with fat transfer injections, a lip lift, and my signature Croton Oil Peel. The result is a refreshed facial appearance with fewer wrinkles, more volume, and brighter and more youthful skin.
4.) Who is the Right Plastic Surgeon To Perform Your Eyelid Surgery?
Eyelid surgery is an extremely common cosmetic procedure and there is no shortage of plastic surgeons capable of performing it. However, there is a big and important difference between finding a plastic surgeon and finding the right plastic surgeon for you. In addition to essential things like being board-certified as a plastic surgeon and having many years of experience performing eyelid surgery (as there are still risks involved), there is the matter of finding a personality fit as well. You should never think that you need to sacrifice comfort, bedside manner, and feeling confident and informed throughout the process for outstanding eyelid surgery results. A great plastic surgeon will provide all of the above.
