Timing is a huge part of the equation for any plastic surgery patient. In the case of facelift surgery, there is no specific age where a facelift suddenly turns into a possible solution for the effects of facial aging. Every person’s face ages differently and common signs of facial aging like wrinkles and loose skin can often result from a person’s unique environmental factors. To me, deciding whether a facelift can help my patient is less about how old they are and more about the specific cosmetic goals they are trying to achieve. Allow me to explain.
According to statistics collected by The Aesthetic Society, about 65% of all facelift procedures are performed on patients between the ages of 55 and 69. However, aging is not uniform and some people may wish to refresh their facial appearance long before they reach this age range. As with any other cosmetic surgery procedure that I perform, the process begins with a consultation appointment. In addition to allowing my patients the opportunity to discuss their issues and why they are pursuing plastic surgery, it’s also important that I am able to determine the root cause of the patient’s aesthetic issues. This will allow me to confirm that they are a good candidate for facelift surgery, while also presenting the different types of facelift procedures that I perform in order to find the best fit for each patient’s specific needs.
In the video below, I go into more detail on when facelift surgery is the right choice for my patients:
