Buttock augmentation procedures continue to rise in popularity year after year. According to the most recent statistics gathered by the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the number of buttock augmentation procedures performed over last year increased to nearly 27,000. This accounted for a 16% increase compared to the previous year. When many people think about buttock augmentation, enhancing the size is the first thing that comes to mind. However, for many patients, the shape of their buttocks and how it agrees with the rest of their silhouette is equally (if not more) important. This is why the Brazilian butt lift has seen such a massive surge in popularity in recent years.

brazilian-butt-lift-atlanta-gaThe Brazilian butt lift is designed to help patients achieve a curvier, more symmetrical figure. Unlike traditional buttock enhancement surgeries that utilize buttock implants, the Brazilian butt lift uses the patient’s own fat that is removed with liposuction. Of all the buttock augmentation procedures performed in the US last year, 94% of them used this fat transfer technique according to the ASAPS statistics.

I begin the procedure by using liposuction to safely remove fat from a donor site on the patient’s body. This is commonly the back, abdomen, or hips, but this can vary depending on the patient. After purifying the fat, I am then able to re-inject it into the necessary sites on the buttock to help enhance the shape. The results are natural-looking and truly outstanding. This procedure has an incredibly high satisfaction rate among my patients.

Before undergoing a Brazilian butt lift procedure, it’s imperative that you find a board-certified plastic surgeon with considerable experience performing this surgery. I recommend seeking out a surgeon that is certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) as well as similar groups like the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). When meeting with prospective plastic surgeons, it’s important to ask to see before and after photos from past Brazilian butt lifts they have performed in order to get an idea of the final results you may be able to expect.

Innovation is a natural and exciting part of the world of cosmetic surgery. It’s always exciting to see a new surgical technique come around and really make an impact with patients. Additional procedure options for patients seeking cosmetic rejuvenation is never a bad thing.
