We know that plastic surgery for men is more popular today than it has ever been before. But what are the most commonly-performed procedures for male patients? Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is one of the few cosmetic surgery procedures that I perform about as frequently on guys as I do on female patients. This is because both men and women may experience “tired-looking” eyes that can make them look old before their time.

For men in the competitive workforce, it’s important to look and feel young. Eyelid surgery can help by removing small pockets of excess skin and fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids. The result is a more refreshed, alert, younger-looking facial appearance. Since many male plastic surgery patients value discretion, it’s important to note that the results achieved with eyelid surgery are often quite subtle. It’s common for close friends or co-workers to not even realize that an eyelid surgery patient had “work” done.

Additionally, recovery from eyelid surgery is not especially burdensome, so men with busier schedules can still easily make time for the procedure. For some men, eyelid surgery can be performed under local anesthetic. In my experience, a patient can return to work within 2 or 5 days after their procedure.
