Among all the aesthetic imperfections that I help my patients address, the dreaded double chin is among the most frustrating due to how easy it is to notice. Thankfully, this is one of the many areas that can successfully be treated with cosmetic surgery and nonsurgical cosmetic treatments. However, determining the right treatment path depends on the cause of each patient’s issue, as well as their personal needs and preferences. Allow me to explain the double chin remedies that I am able to provide for my patients.
Liposuction Surgery
Liposuction for the neck is the most commonly used way to address the double chin. During the procedure, I make a tiny incision and insert a small device known as a cannula to effectively remove fat from beneath the skin and sculpt a new, leaner chin and neck contour. The results are outstanding and long-lasting, and the fat removed will not return to the area.
Kybella® Nonsurgical Fat Reduction
I also provide a nonsurgical alternative for people who wish to remove submental fat from the chin and neck area. Kybella® is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that works by breaking down fat cells in the treatment area, leading to a healthy thinning of the neck (double chin).
Neck Lift or Mini Face Lift Surgery
Although excess fat in the chin and neck area is a very common cause of a double chin, it is not the only one. In fact, it’s exceedingly common for people to experience loose, sagging skin in the neck area that can lead to similar aesthetic issues. I also perform both neck lift and mini face lift procedures that can help by removing loose, excess skin and tightening the remaining tissue to rejuvenate the neck area.
I take time during pre-surgery consultation appointments to thoroughly discuss all of the available options to make sure each patient is able to find the best procedure choice for their specific needs. No matter which option is ultimately chosen, rejuvenating the appearance of the neck can be an excellent way to help refresh your entire appearance.
