One thing I pride myself on as a board-certified plastic surgeon is providing my patients with as many options as possible to treat their aesthetic concerns, whatever they may be. In my experience, the more options that a patient has, the more time they will spend deliberating between them, which typically leads to more informed patients making more informed decisions regarding their treatment. When it comes to removing excess fat from the abdominal area, I like to present patients with both surgical and nonsurgical alternatives for them to choose from.
Liposuction has consistently remained one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures for decades due to its ability to safely remove fat from areas all over the body. Since it is surgery, liposuction will require a couple of weeks of downtime for recovery following surgery, but the results will be significant and long-lasting. Nonsurgical fat reduction with SculpSure® uses a series of treatments (typically about 25 minutes per treatment session) to gradually remove smaller patches of fat from the abdomen. SculpSure® is a noninvasive treatment that does not require any downtime for recovery, however, I advise patients to be patient regarding the final results from their treatment.
In the following video, I discuss how patients can use plastic surgery or nonsurgical fat reduction with SculpSure® Fat Removal to remove stubborn fat from their abdominal area:
When choosing which fat removal method is best, it simply depends on the specific needs and preferences of each individual patient. Determining whether you would benefit more from liposuction or nonsurgical fat reduction requires an in-person consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon like myself. Regardless of which option you eventually select, I am confident that both methods can provide outstanding fat removal results.
