There are many decisions that need to be made by patients who are considering undergoing cosmetic breast surgery. You must determine which breast surgery makes the most sense to help you achieve your specific aesthetic goals. But before that, you must select the right board-certified plastic surgeon to perform your procedure. In addition to being board-certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and similar boards like the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), there are a number of other factors that I recommend patients look for when choosing between potential surgeons.

I recommend beginning your search by seeking out online reviews in places like Google and Facebook for board-certified plastic surgeons in your areas. A surgeon’s online reputation can provide a quick glimpse into how a doctor’s past patients feel about their experiences and results. Once you have narrowed down your search, speak with a few prospective plastic surgeons to see if any of them have extensive experience performing the specific procedure you plan on undergoing. During your pre-surgery consultation, find out if the surgeon has developed any specialty techniques for your procedure of choice, as well as how long they have been performing your specific procedure, and how many times they have performed it. It can also be very helpful to ask every plastic surgeon you meet with to see before and after photos from past procedures they have performed. Closely examining these photos can help you gain a better sense of how each surgeon tailors a procedure to your specific body type.

Remember, there is no need to rush when trying to select a plastic surgeon to perform your procedure. The more time and energy you spend researching your prospective surgeons, the more likely you are to find the best-possible plastic surgeon to perform your cosmetic breast surgery. So take your time, do your research, and don’t be shy about asking any questions you have during your consultation.
