As a double board-certified plastic surgeon, it is part of my responsibility to use all the resources at my disposal to ensure the best cosmetic surgery results for my patients. One new technology that has paid major dividends in recent years is GalaFLEX® mesh. Stability is a critical component of many of the cosmetic surgery procedures that I perform, and GalaFLEX® can be an essential tool for reinforcing the soft tissue that is affected during surgery.
GalaFLEX® mesh is most commonly associated with breast lift surgery. When utilized as part of a breast lift, GalaFLEX® works as a type of internal bra, supporting the breast tissue and helping the breasts retain their positioning and perkiness. However, I have found this technology to be incredibly beneficial for a wide variety of the cosmetic procedures that I regularly perform. For instance, I have used GalaFLEX® during breast revision surgery to reinforce the breast pocket and support the new breast implants. Doing so can help prevent any potential risk of aesthetic complications including bottoming out or implant rippling. Performing tummy tuck surgery with GalaFLEX® mesh can help provide additional much needed support to the abdominal tissue.
In the video below, I demonstrate how GalaFLEX® Mesh can be helpful during a tummy tuck procedure:

I try to remain open-minded and flexible when it comes to new cosmetic surgery technology and techniques. As long as something has proven to be safe and effective, I am more than happy to see for myself if it will be able to help my patients.
