Performing cosmetic procedures and helping patients improve their self-esteem by improving their appearance is only part of my job as a board-certified plastic surgeon. In the past, I have discussed pre-surgery consultation appointments and how I use this time to educate patients and address any specific questions or concerns they may have about their upcoming procedure. But the consultation is also a time where I can allay any potential concerns or anxieties that a patient may have about their procedure. While it’s a fact that plastic surgery is safer than ever, it’s perfectly natural to have some pre-surgery jitters.

During plastic surgery consultation appointments in my office, I do everything I can to make my patients feel comfortable and informed through every step of the process. In addition to discussing safety, I also take time to answer any lingering questions and curiosities that the patient may have about the surgery and expectations with their results. I take time to walk my patients through every step of their surgery preparation and of the surgery itself, to help reinforce that it is extremely rare for there to be any unexpected events on the day of the procedure. One thing that is always helpful is showing plastic surgery before and after photos from past patients I have helped. This way, my patients can get a better idea of what they can expect after their procedure has been completed.

In the following video, I discuss how my surgery team and I work hard to make sure every patient we treat feels comfortable during their time in our office:
