One of the most difficult changes that a woman’s body experiences as she ages is the loss of skin elasticity and firmness in the stomach area. Over time, events like becoming pregnant, weight fluctuation, and natural aging can stretch the abdominal wall and cause the skin around the stomach to become overextended and lax. Achieving a flatter stomach contour and a shapelier waist can be nearly impossible for some women through diet and exercise only. Regardless of whether they experience patches of stubborn fat that accumulate around the waist or a belly “pooch”, body contouring plastic surgery can be the best way for some patients to help trim their waistline and rejuvenate their appearance.

In many cases, undergoing a tummy tuck can significantly help women restore firmness to their stomach area sculpt out a more pleasing silhouette. During the procedure, I am able to remove excess skin and fat from the abdomen. I also tighten abdominal muscles which can often become loose over time (especially after childbirth). The result is a more toned, flatter abdomen that patients can feel great about. My tummy tuck method differs from other plastic surgeons as I use my signature Scarpa fascia technique for waist enhancement. In the video below, I explain and illustrate how I use the Scarpa fascia tummy tuck to help patients attain a better, healthier-looking waist contour:
