I have seen from many, many years of experience that no two patients are ever the same. Some patients visit my office with a very specific idea of exactly which cosmetic procedure they would like to have done and how. Others may be more flexible and would like to learn about all of their available options. In the case of fat reduction, here at Southern Plastic Surgery, I perform surgical fat reduction with liposuction. At our sister practice, Laser Lights Cosmetic Laser Center, we perform non-surgical fat reduction treatments with SculpSure®. While there’s no “right” choice between the two options, they both offer unique advantages for patients.

Advantages of Liposuction

  • Able to remove pockets of excess fat from areas all over the face and body.
  • Can be combined with other body contouring procedures like a tummy tuck for patients who prefer more extensive aesthetic results.
  • Only one appointment is needed, unlike non-surgical alternatives that will require multiple treatment sessions.
  • Long-lasting and outstanding results.

Advantages of Non-Surgical Fat Reduction with SculpSure®

  • Targeted fat removal using an FDA-cleared system of controlled heat energy to damage and expel fat cells.
  • No downtime needed for recovery, and patients can immediately continue daily activities following their treatment session.
  • Very fast treatments (around 25 minutes per session).
  • Long-lasting and outstanding results.

I take some time In the video below to discuss both liposuction surgery and non-surgical fat removal with SculpSure® to help patients gain a better understanding of how both can be incredibly helpful:
