Preparing for a breast lift doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. In fact, a little planning ahead of time can make your surgery day—and your recovery—much smoother. We always tell our patients that feeling informed and prepared is one of the best ways to feel confident going into a breast lift. Below is our go-to pre-surgery checklist to help women considering breast lift surgery to know exactly what to focus on before their procedure.
1. Attend Your Pre-Surgery Consultation Appointment
Your breast lift consultation is where everything really comes together. During this visit, we’ll review your surgical plan, answer any last-minute questions, and go over important details like medications, anesthesia, and what to expect on surgery day. This is also the time to be honest about your medical history, supplements, and lifestyle habits—no detail is too small. The clearer the picture we have, the safer and smoother your surgery will be.
2. Adjust Medications and Supplements as Directed
Certain medications and supplements can increase bleeding or interfere with healing, so it’s important to follow our instructions closely. You may be asked to stop taking things like aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, or herbal supplements for a period of time before surgery. If you’re unsure about whether something is safe to continue, always ask. We’d much rather double-check than make assumptions.
3. Prepare Your Recovery Space at Home
Once you return home, you’ll want your recovery space to be comfortable and easy to navigate. Stock up on essentials like prescribed medications, loose-fitting clothing, and pillows to help you rest in an elevated position. Having meals prepared ahead of time and frequently used items within arm’s reach can make those first few days much more relaxing. Think of it as setting yourself up for a stress-free recovery.
4. Arrange Help and Transportation
You’ll need someone to drive you home after surgery and stay with you for at least the first 24 hours. Breast lift recovery is generally very manageable, but having support makes a big difference. Whether it’s a partner, family member, or close friend, make sure your helper knows what to expect and is available to assist with basic tasks while you rest and heal.
A Little Preparation Goes a Long Way
A breast lift is an exciting step towards achieving the body contour you desire, and proper preparation helps ensure the best possible experience and results. By following this pre-surgery checklist, you’re giving yourself a strong foundation for a smooth surgery and recovery. And remember, we’re always here to guide you—if questions pop up along the way, don’t hesitate to reach out. Feeling prepared is feeling empowered, and that’s exactly how we want you to go into your breast lift journey.
