With over 20 years of surgical experience in performing rhinoplasty, double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David Whiteman has implemented innovative surgical and non-surgical techniques to ensure his patients natural and aesthetically pleasing results. Whether undergoing rhinoplasty for medical or cosmetic reasons, Dr. Whiteman places great emphasis on his patients’ physical and mental health. Patients can minimize complications by following Dr. Whiteman’s recommended aftercare instructions such as proper wound care, diet, sleep, and medications which can aid in speeding up the healing process and enhancing successful rhinoplasty results.
When performing rhinoplasty surgery, Dr. Whiteman utilizes two different techniques: closed or open. Closed rhinoplasty requires small incisions to be made inside the nose. An open rhinoplasty is similar to closed, but Dr. Whiteman makes an additional incision to separate the nostrils. No matter what rhinoplasty technique is used, Dr. Whiteman will hide incisions within the natural folds of the nose in order to minimize scarring.
Post-surgery, a splint or bandages will be placed on the outside to protect the nose, and will be worn for about a week. You will also experience some swelling and bruising which will go down within the first few weeks and most patients are able to return to work in about a week. Dr. Whiteman will provide you specific instructions on how to take care of the surgical site, suggest medications to aid in the healing process, advise on engaging in physical activity, and maintaining proper nutrition, and when to make your follow-up appointments. Dr. Whiteman’s extensive knowledge and expertise in facial rejuvenation has entitled him to produce successful results for patients of all ages and ethnicities.
Dr. Whiteman incorporates the use of facial fillers such as Juvéderm®, Expression® and Restylane® to revitalize the nose and surrounding area. By injecting fillers into the tip, base, or bridge of the nose, Dr. Whiteman can restore lost volume and straighten the bridge, which produces a more youthful, natural aesthetic. Though patients like the perks of minimal downtime with the use of facial fillers, the results are not permanent and will require meeting with Dr. Whiteman for additional injections.
