Contributing factors such as the natural aging process, gravity, weight fluctuation, pregnancy, and breastfeeding can take a toll on the body, especially in the breasts which over time gradually lose their shape and firmness. To address such concerns, breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, can address issues of excess fat, sagging and disproportion of breasts and give a firmer, perkier appearance.
The ideal candidate for a breast lift is an individual that suffers from sagging, pendulous breasts that lack firmness and have irregular nipple placement. Multiple techniques are utilized when performing a breast lift and it is based on the size and shape of your breasts, the degree of laxity as well as other factors. Breast lift surgery doesn’t address the size of the breasts, as its main objective is to reposition the nipples and breasts by removing excess stretched skin and tightening the remaining tissue to lift breasts for a more natural and proportionate aesthetically-pleasing result.
Typically, breast lift surgery is often combined with breast augmentation to restore firmness and a higher breast position once they have started to deplete or experience a loss of volume. When performing a breast augmentation procedure, I insert a breast implant to enhance the shape and size of the breast and excess skin and tissue is removed to provide a lifted appearance. By combining both breast lift and breast augmentation procedures, I am able to address not only the position of the breast but also increase the overall size of the breasts in one combined procedure.
In order to maximize your breast lift results, I recommend that my patients frequently schedule and attend follow-up appointments in order to receive recommendations for minimizing any potential complications and proper instructions to care for the breasts. Depending on the type of incision, upkeep, or weight fluctuation following your procedure, breast lift results can last a while, but can also be reversed if you experience a dramatic increase in weight which can cause the skin to stretch.
