I am always happy to welcome out of town patients here to Southern Plastic Surgery. It really does mean a lot to me to know that a person is truly dedicated to improving their appearance and believes so strongly that I am the right plastic surgeon to help them reach their aesthetic goals that they are willing to travel here. The truth is, I have worked with enough out of town plastic surgery patients over the years to be able to provide a guide for prospective travelers to follow.

Tips for Out of Town Plastic Surgery Patients

Plan Your Travel & Accommodations

Whether you are planning on flying or driving to Atlanta to visit Southern Plastic Surgery, it’s important to confirm a convenient travel itinerary. I recommend for out of town patients who live more than 90 minutes away from our office to plan to spend the night in the Atlanta area the night following their procedure. We will discuss ideal places to stay near our practicing during your consultation appointment.

Don’t Rush Your Recovery

The length of time that a patient will need to stay in the Atlanta area will vary from patient to patient. For most people, it typically ranges from anywhere between 1 – 2 days to 2 weeks depending on the type of procedure they undergo. Certain more involved surgeries like a body lift may require a longer stay. Since flying while recovering can negatively impact a person’s ability to heal, it’s essential to remain patient and not rush your recovery.

Make Sure You Are Cared For

Many patients will need assistance following their plastic surgery. If you are traveling alone, it’s important to make arrangements for post-operative care in advance. For instance, any additional overnight stays in the hospital after plastic surgery may cost as much as $700 per night. We are happy to be of assistance to our patients through their recovery period. We can also recommend in-home nursing care for patients who prefer that option.

As long as the patient does their due diligence and doesn’t do anything to compromise their health, safety, or final results, there is nothing wrong with traveling to have a plastic surgery procedure performed. Hopefully these tips can help prospective out of town patients understand some of the additional steps that they will need to take.
