In recent years, combination plastic surgery procedures have become far more common. The most notable of these is the mommy makeover. Here at Southern Plastic Surgery, my signature mommy makeover includes liposuction, tummy tuck surgery (using my Scarpa fascia technique for waist enhancement), and a cosmetic breast procedure to help rejuvenate a woman’s figure. Even with the increased popularity, there is still a lot that many prospective patients do not understand about mommy makeover surgery and what it can (and cannot) do. That’s why I have written this blog post to help clear the record.
A Mommy Makeover Can provide even more comprehensive body contouring results than one individual procedure can. In many cases women who have experienced pregnancy, significant weight fluctuation, or an excess of loose skin that occurs naturally over time, seek to improve multiple areas of their body. By combining three procedures into one, a mommy makeover can often provide tremendous, long-lasting aesthetic results.
A Mommy Makeover Cannot literally turn back time. While it’s true that the results achieved from a mommy makeover are often outstanding, it will not be able to prevent natural aging in the years following surgery. It’s important to go into a mommy makeover with realistic expectations of what the procedure can accomplish. Additionally, patients should be diligent about maintaining their results with proper nutrition, regular exercise, and good lifestyle habits.
A Mommy Makeover Can be enhanced even further by adding additional a-la-carte procedures. This can include facial procedures like a facelift or eyelid surgery, additional body contouring procedures like an arm lift, or even nonsurgical cosmetic treatments. A grammy makeover allows patients to truly customize their surgery experience to their unique needs.
In my personal experience, mommy makeover patients are typically incredibly satisfied with the final results of their procedure. The best way to know if a mommy makeover is right for you is to visit a board-certified plastic surgeon for a consultation appointment. During mommy makeover consultations, I discuss all the procedure alternatives and options with each patient to make sure they arrive at the most helpful and appropriate choices for their needs.
