Facelifts for Men The New NormalPlastic surgery, once thought of as a tool exclusively for women, has become very popular with men in recent years. As the stereotypes and barriers around plastic surgery have begun to vanish, many guys have been introduced to a whole new way to improve their appearance and self-esteem. Male plastic surgery is here to stay, and the number of procedures performed on guys continues to increase annually. However, some guys may be hesitant to turn to plastic surgery due to a lack of proper, dependable information. To help men feel more at ease about plastic surgery and how it can help them, I have provided a few simple things to consider.

  • Most cosmetic surgeries are not gender specific. Meaning, many of the most common plastic surgery procedures including liposuction, tummy tucks, and facelifts can be performed on both male and female patients. However, your gender may dictate your results.
  • Plastic surgery won’t make you appear more feminine. This is a common concern among male patients that I speak with. I can alter the techniques of a procedure, like eyelid surgery or male breast reduction for example, to accentuate and retain the patient’s more masculine features.
  • Nonsurgical cosmetic treatments can also be of assistance. For guys who want to rejuvenate their look but may not have the ability or desire to undergo plastic surgery, nonsurgical procedures like Botox® Cosmetic Injections and nonsurgical fat reduction can be very beneficial. These treatments can help guys improve their appearance in several different ways without the cost, time commitment, and recovery period that surgery may require.
  • Finding the right plastic surgeon can make all the difference. The first step in any plastic surgery journey is choosing an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon who can make you feel comfortable and assured in the results that they will provide. Confirm during your in-person consultation that your prospective surgeon has experience working with male patients. Ask to see before and after photos from past patients they have worked with to determine if their aesthetic style is a match for your needs. If you aren’t 100% sure that you and the surgeon you are meeting with are a good match, don’t settle. Move on and continue your search.

Guys no longer have to worry about the cultural stigma of opting for plastic surgery. If you think undergoing a cosmetic surgery procedure can be the key to improving how you look and feel about your appearance, now may be the perfect time to consider your options.
