FaceliftThe preliminary consultation appointment is an incredibly important part of any patient’s plastic surgery journey. These appointments provide patients with the opportunity to get better acquainted with their plastic surgeon, as well as the chance to address any potential questions or concerns that they may have about their surgery. In order to help my patients have the best and most satisfying experience during their facelift consultations, I have compiled three distinct categories of questions to bring up during their pre-surgery consultation appointment.

Ask About Your Plastic Surgeon

The first step in any cosmetic procedure is finding the right plastic surgeon to perform your surgery. As a general rule, you should only consider doctors who are board-certified as plastic surgeons by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Once you have narrowed down your search, confirm that they have extensive experience performing facelift surgery. I recommend asking to see before and after facelift photos from previous surgeries they have performed in order to get an idea of the potential results you may be able to expect.

Ask Whether Or Not You’re A Good Candidate

Facelift surgery appeals to many people for its fantastic ability to rejuvenate the face. However, wanting to look younger does not necessarily make someone a candidate for facelift surgery. In addition to experiencing visible signs of aging in the lower portion of the face, a facelift patient must also be in good mental and physical health to undergo a facelift. So it’s important to be honest about your medical history during the consultation and pre-op appointment.

Ask About Your Surgical Options

Facelift surgery can be performed many different ways depending on the plastic surgeon as well as the unique needs and specifications of each patient. I personally perform different variations of facelift surgery including the full facelift and the mini facelift. Make sure to ask your plastic surgeon if they have different surgical techniques that can be of assistance in order to find the best option and results for your needs. Additionally, If you think you might also benefit from combining your facelift with an additional cosmetic procedure like eyelid surgery or a neck lift, you should ask about this during your consultation as well.

Facelift surgery has proven over the years to be a safe and extremely effective way for people to refresh their face and look younger. If you would like to learn more about the procedure or to discuss if you are a good candidate for a facelift, I highly recommend taking the next step and consulting with an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon.
