There are multiple factors that can influence a change in a woman’s breasts. Over time, the effects of gravity, aging, weight fluctuation, pregnancy, and breastfeeding can take a toll on the body, especially in the breasts which gradually lose their shape and firmness. To address such concerns, breast lift surgery, also known as a mastopexy, is utilized in order to give the breasts a more youthful, firmer, and perkier appearance.

breast-surgery-atlanta-gaThe ideal candidate for a breast lift is an individual that suffers from sagging, pendulous breasts that lack firmness and have irregular nipple placement. I use various techniques when performing a breast lift based on the size and shape of your breasts, the degree of sagging, and other additional causes. A breast lift doesn’t address the size of the breast but instead, re-positions and reshapes the nipple and areola and removes excess stretched skin while tightening the remaining tissue. The lift restores the natural shape and proportion of the breasts to achieve aesthetically-pleasing results. Additionally, I perform a mini breast lift for patients who need a minor correction to the placement of the breasts.

Typically, breast lift surgery is often combined with breast augmentation for individuals who want to increase the volume of their breasts while lifting them to a more youthful placement. When performing a breast augmentation procedure, I insert a breast implant to enhance the shape and size of the breast and excess skin and tissue is removed to provide a lifted appearance.

To maximize results after surgery, I recommend that my patients frequently schedule and attend follow-up appointments in order to receive recommendations for minimizing any complications and proper instructions to care for the areas of incision. Depending on the type of incision, upkeep, or weight fluctuation following your procedure, breast lift results can last a while, but can also be reversed if you experience a dramatic increase in weight which can cause the skin to stretch.
