Early on in every new year, I always make a point to take stock in what is currently trending in the world of plastic surgery. I know that in this industry, things have a way of changing fast. This means the introduction of fantastic new advancements and procedure techniques, as well as changes in what kind of results patients are looking for when they pursue a cosmetic surgery procedure. So without any further ado, I wanted to discuss a few plastic surgery trends that I noticed over the past year here at Southern Plastic Surgery.
Trend #1: A Passion for Enhanced Customization
While this has always been the case to a certain degree, plastic surgery patients today are more empowered than ever to seek out procedures specifically tailored to their own unique faces, body’s and aesthetic goals. The days of cookie cutter aesthetic rejuvenation or specific archetypes that patients seek seem to be in the past.
Trend #2: Combination Procedures Are In-Demand
Plastic surgery combination procedures like mommy makeover surgery seem to be on the rise. Which makes sense when you factor in the preference for enhanced ability to customize each plastic surgery experience to the specific needs of each patient. Combining multiple plastic surgery procedures into one session allows patients to achieve more comprehensive and balanced rejuvenation, while also cutting back on surgical fees and recovery time when compared to undergoing these procedures separately.
Trend #3: Celebrating A More Subtle, Natural Breast Contour
According to statistics collected by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the popularity of breast reduction procedures has surged to new highs in recent years. This coincides with a preference I’ve noticed for smaller and more natural-looking breast implants used during breast augmentation procedures, as well as some women who prefer to simply have their breasts lifted instead of opting for traditional breast enhancement like they may have in the past.
As a board-certified plastic surgeon, I am always trying to stay up with what’s current as a way of better guiding my patients to the right aesthetic option for their specific needs. No matter what is trending at any given moment, my patients know that they can expect the most professional and comfortable plastic surgery experience with more of a family atmosphere when they visit our office.
