In my many years of experience performing plastic surgery for male patients, one thing that has remained consistent over time is the importance these patients place on discretion. Although 2020 was an extremely challenging year in many ways, it also offered people a unique opportunity to undergo and recover from a cosmetic surgery procedure with more privacy and discretion than ever. Perhaps this is why facial plastic surgery for men seems to be booming at the moment.
There are several factors that may help explain this increase in demand among male patients. As I previously mentioned, the additional time away from the office certainly contributed to an uptick in facial procedures for men last year. As did the sudden commonality of face-forward video meeting programs like Zoom. All of this combined with a general changing of attitudes and societal preferences among men in recent years adds up to more men than ever turning to cosmetic procedures to help improve their appearance and look younger again.
I perform a number of cosmetic surgery procedures for the face intended to help men look younger and more refreshed. This includes different varieties of face lift surgery including the mini facelift, which is specifically intended to address the lower third of the face. Eyelid surgery for men is also very in-demand.
Men have also increasingly turned to several nonsurgical cosmetic treatments in recent years. This includes cosmetic injectable treatments like Botox®, Dysport®, and facial filler injections. Nonsurgical treatments can often appeal to men who may not have time for a recovery period following a cosmetic surgery procedure.
It’s certainly been encouraging to see so many guys shake off any reservations they may have had about cosmetic rejuvenation in recent years. After all, everyone wants to look and feel their best, regardless of gender.
