smiling-young-womanYounger people, including millennials and zoomers, are more inclined to consider cosmetic rejuvenation than ever before. And among patients in these age ranges, non-surgical injectable treatments like facial fillers are hugely in-demand. And while facial fillers can provide their own terrific results, these results are temporary and may not be what every patient wants long-term. Today, I wanted to discuss an interesting trend that I’ve noticed of facelift surgery for younger people, and how it can help some patients who have used filler injections in the past.

In addition to providing more short-term results, many facial filler injections are dissolvable or even removable. While it’s obviously a good thing that patients have the option to change their minds about how they want to look over time, there can be some additional cosmetic needs that need assistance. Many plastic surgeons and other cosmetic professionals, myself included, have spoken with patients who experience sagging facial skin and lost facial volume for patients who have previously undergone facial filler injections. Both of which can make a person look older well before their time.

Additionally, losing a significant amount of weight can also lead to similar effects. The concept of post-weight loss surgery has been around for many years, but it has often been more associated with body contouring procedures like liposuction and tummy tuck surgery. However, I have personally seen that facelift surgery after weight loss can provide similar anti-aging effects..

Formerly considered only an option for patients in their 40’s or older, more and more younger patients are turning to the classic facelift (or mini facelift) procedure to help them rejuvenate their face and fight off common signs of aging. This includes loose skin, lost volume in the lower portion of the face, fine lines, wrinkles, and more. During facelift surgery, I am able to remove excess, stretched skin from the face and neck area, and reposition existing tissue to safely provide a more lifted and youthful appearance.
